Talnua Distiller Position
This is a 40hr/week morning distiller position with Talnua Distillery with the opportunity to grow as the company grows. As a distiller, you will work with and report to the Production Manager. Pay range is $50,000 – $60,000/yr (depending on experience) with up to a 5% retention bonus per year, benefits including fully covered healthcare, dental, and vision, and up to 4% matching 401k.
A distiller for Talnua Distillery will be required and expected perform the following tasks:
Overview:
The role of the distiller is to work side by side with the head distiller, production manager, and other members of the production team in all aspects of the whiskey making process. The distiller will be responsible for the use of brewing and distilling equipment, cleaning in place (CIP) procedures, upholding quality control (QC) standards, and packaging. Abilities and Skills
-
Must have 2 years of commercial brewing and/or distilling experience
-
Must be willing to work a 5am – 1pm shift (and occasional weekends with advanced notice for special events, etc)

Able to lift, carry, or dump 55 lbs bags at an approximate height of 5 feet
-
Able to manipulate or move barrels weighing up to 130 lbs
-
Able to team lift objects including barrels up to 200 lbs
-
Able to stand on feet for duration of a shift
-
Able to comply with safe chemical handling procedures, including personal protection equipment such as gloves and goggles.

Able to both work and thrive in an environment that has a moderate to high noise level
-
Able to both work and thrive in a non-climate controlled environment in which the temperatures might reach high or low levels
-
Able to read and follow written English instructions
-
Able to safely operate and drive a forklift or other powered industrial equipment. Training will be provided

Able to work all shifts including morning, swing, and evening shifts if required
-
All safety and personal protection equipment will be provided

Must be 21+ years of age
General Duties and Responsibilities
-
Prepare and stage grain for brewing
-
Brewing and wort production
-
Maintain brewing equipment through industry standard cleaning procedures
-
General cleaning of horizontal, vertical, and sub-grade surfaces
-
Spent grain handling
-
uphold all quality control standards
-
Cellar Operations: cleaning in place (CIP), sanitize in place (SIP), Yeast Harvesting and/or Dumping, Gravities, and Wort Transfer
-
Deliver and pick up raw materials, brewing aids, cleaning materials and packaged product as necessary
-
Fill, fire, and run all distillation equipment effectively

Assist in all barrel filling and discharging operations. Barrel maintenance duties if required

Packaging: Set up and breakdown packaging equipment, work the packaging line

Fill out and complete documentation for production records

Provide and contribute to brewing and distillation process, share ideas, and collaborate with Head Distiller and Production Manager in order to constantly improve

Loading and Unloading trucks with production materials

Adhere to all standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and safety practices
-
Other potential responsibilities as we continue to grow as a company
