Talnua Distillery named "2026 Distillery of the Year" by the American Distilling Institute
Talnua has been named 2026 Distillery of the Year by the American Distilling Institute (ADI), receiving the prestigious Bubble Cap Award, the organization’s highest honor for a U.S. craft distillery.
Nearly nine years ago, Patrick and Meagan set out to do something a little different—bringing the traditions of Irish whiskey together with American ingenuity to create American Single Pot Still Whiskey right here in Colorado.
We’ve taken some risks, made a lot of whiskey, and had the incredible privilege of building this with an amazing team and community.
What does it take to be named ADI Distillery of the Year?
The American Distilling Institute’s (ADI) Bubble Cap Award recognizes one distillery that represents the very best of artisan distilling. ADI considers more than what’s in the bottle, looking at spirits quality, innovation, transparency, authenticity, sustained growth, community involvement, and a distillery’s commitment to the craft.
For us at Talnua, being named 2026 ADI Distillery of the Year is an incredible honor because it recognizes the bigger picture of what we’re building.
It’s about crafting American Single Pot Still Whiskey with intention, being transparent about our process, and continuing to innovate. It’s also about our community—hosting annual philanthropic events and special bottle releases, and sharing our love of whiskey through classes, tours, tastings, and celebrations.
ADI President Erik Owens recognized Talnua’s contributions to both the whiskey category and the broader craft distilling industry.
“Talnua Distillery is making extraordinary American single pot still whiskey, and they stepped up to help their community during challenging times,” said Owens. “As the first dedicated Irish-style pot still whiskey distillery in the United States, Talnua has tirelessly championed this distinctive and delicious style. They truly exemplify the creative spirit, innovative approach, and dedication that make the craft spirits industry so special, and is why they deserve to be recognized on the world stage.”
The award also recognizes Talnua’s involvement in advancing the craft distilling industry. Meagan Miller served as president of the Colorado Distillers Guild beginning in 2020, taking on industry leadership during an especially challenging period for craft distillers.

About Talnua Distillery
Founded in 2015 by husband-and-wife team Patrick and Meagan Miller, Talnua Distillery is Colorado’s pioneering American Single Pot Still Whiskey distillery, dedicated to creating a distinctly American expression of a traditional Irish whiskey style. Located in Arvada, Colorado, Talnua was built around a simple idea: take the techniques and traditions that inspired Patrick and Meagan and give them a home in Colorado. Every bottle begins with a mash of 50% malted and 50% unmalted barley and is triple distilled in copper pot stills before being matured in a variety of carefully selected casks. That commitment to making whiskey from grain to glass, experimenting with different cask finishes, and being transparent about the process has helped Talnua carve out its own place in the American whiskey landscape. Over the years, that work has earned recognition from whiskey competitions and publications around the country, culminating in being named the 2026 Distillery of the Year by the American Distilling Institute and receiving its prestigious Bubble Cap Award.
